The approach
This is a home built around sound. Eight zones of music throughout, independent in every room, and one room set for surround. Under it all, a Josh.ai brain ties control together, with your JDL lighting and shades brought in, on a Ubiquiti network everything rides on.

Lighting & shades
The Lutron lighting, with the engraved keypads, and the motorized shades come with the unit from JDL. We bring both into Josh, so lights, shades, music, and rooms move together as one.
Breakfast room
In the breakfast room, the display sits flush in the millwork, with a James Loudspeaker LCR soundbar concealed just below it, paired with a Marantz receiver and a powered Sonance subwoofer. Surround sound, with nothing on the walls you did not ask for. Micro RGB panels are an option here, and if you want more screen, you can go big, see the ideas below.

In the kitchen
An automated lift raises a display from the kitchen millwork when you want it, and lowers it out of sight when you do not. One more piece of technology that stays invisible until you ask for it.

One connected system, served from a single rack closet at the heart of the unit.
Everything is served from one equipment rack on protected, battery-backed power: quiet, central, and easy to service.

Our recommendationA space to play records properly: McIntosh, a turntable, and a pair of Sonus Faber, the green glow and the vinyl. We have seen this become the favorite room in the home.
